Happy New Year!! It has been over almost 1 year since my last update on the family, and boy have we had a busy year. I typically write the blog to give updates as we don't live close to our family and they comment that they miss seeing pictures of our spunky little Abby, hopefully this year I will get better at the updates each month with pictures. The other reason I write is that it allows me to remember the little things that happen each month and make them into core memories and not allow them to dump into the memory dump abyss. So lets do a quick summary of last year....
January
Andrew and I took a long weekend and headed up to Duluth to stay at a bed a breakfast. We have never stayed at one before, it was AMAZING!! We enjoyed meeting up with some friends in Duluth, checking out Tycoon's prohibition bar in the basement, drinking wine and relaxing, and downhill skiing. Abby got to be in her Cousin David and Kelli's wedding, where she enjoyed dancing the night away!
February-March
To be honest I can't really remember anything that really stands out from these months. Valentine's Day happened and we watched the Ladies Man. Good thing I have some pictures that at least show that we did some fun stuff.
Science Experiments
April:
Easter happened. Someone was really excited to get fairy wings in her Easter Basket, but was super sad when she couldn't really fly in the sky with them. She eventually thought it was fun to fly around on the ground, although it took some convincing.
Abby also got to see Frozen on Ice....this was probably the highlight of the month for our little girl.
May
May always keeps us busy. Mother's Day was spent with my extended family and a delicious brunch, and the end of the month we celebrated Abby turning 3. This year we celebrated back at my parent's house with a Princess and Gun's party.
Summer June-August:
Lets be honest, those summer months all blend together. We had a blast this summer with a trip to Florida, Wyoming, the lake, the horse track, swimming, baseball games, Valley Fair, golf outings, and just having fun being outside.
She loves going on the spinning, rides. She must get that from her Dad.
Florida
Wyoming Trip
Andrew and I headed West this summer, stopping by Mt. Rushmore on our way out to Wyoming for a week. I attended a conference in Jackson, WY in the morning and we spent the afternoon checking out all that Wyoming has to offer. We headed up to Yellowstone for a day as well and camped for a night before headed home. It was an amazing trip, and I look forward to taking my kids to Yellowstone to camp one day!
(I'm too cheap to buy the picture from them....It's like $20 a picture, that it ridiculous. White water rafting was AWESOME!! and I highly recommend doing at least once!)
Hiked to the top of a Mountain, views were well worth the leg pain I sustained going back down the mountain, forgot that you use your legs more going down than up.
Yellowstone: My pictures barely show the natural beauty of this place.
Back in Minnesota
September-November
Fall, this also kinda blurs together. We headed back up to Duluth for Labor Day, I had wanted to take Abby camping this year, which was a huge success even though it stormed each night. She had a blast and thought that it was super awesome to sleep outside! (My hopes of camping in Yellowstone when she is a little older should come true!!). We also enjoyed pumping picking, the Herrick Harvest, Apple picking, and Halloween!!
November-December
Holiday Season!! This is probably my favorite time of year, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Delicious food and good company never disappointment. We made our rounds this year with our families the week before Christmas, so we were able to spend Christmas at home, and start our own traditions as our little family. Abby set out some cookies and milk for Santa, and was so excited to see that he had eaten all the cookies when she came downstairs in the morning. She was also happy to see presents under the tree :)
We had our hardships this past year, but also celebrated some exciting news! In August this year, we found out that we were expecting again, nervous due to our past experiences we took this new pregnancy week by week. At our 8 week ultrasound we heard the heartbeat going strong at 170 and got our glimpse at our new little tadpole, it pretty much looks like a tadpole at that age. Abby came with us to this appointment, and her response to watching the ultrasound screen was, "I don't like this movie." I love how children have no filter :) I went back in 2 weeks for a follow up ultrasound and everything continued to look great, it also started to look more human like. On December 4th we had our 20 week ultrasound, where everything again looked great!! We are excited about welcoming our new baby in April!!!
Oh...and its a BOY!!!
