Summer, surprise parties, and whiskey

Well another month has gone by, which means that there is only 1 more month left of Summer. This summer has flown by since every weekend has been packed with events. Looks like I left off in June, so we'll start there. We started off mid June by heading to Canterbury Race Track. Mostly they race horses, but if your lucky you may get to see some Ostrich Races. We, however, only saw the horses. Little to my knowledge, Sunday is family day, which worked out well for us as Abby was able to run around and both Andrew and I did not feel the need to chase after her at every moment since there were lots of other kids running around and parents just watching. The horse races were tons of fun to watch and Abby loved watching the horses run. We were all winners that day as each of us picked a winning horse for different races. Abby picked hers by just pointing at the names. We will be sure to put her $3 winnings towards her college fund.

Hanging out at the Horse Track
Father's Day weekend was spend back in Green Bay for the annual PTSD golf outing. We always have a great time at this, and enjoy putting our money towards a great cause!  Jenny, Drew, Andrew, and I made up our 4 person scramble team. We always thought that we were the worst team out there, but to our surprise there was 1 team that did worse than us. We had a great time, and fortunately for us I did not take many pictures.

This June marked Andrew's 30th birthday. Crazy to think that we are getting this old and to think that we have a 2 year old,  graduated from college almost 8 years ago and high school was 12 years ago! Time goes by too fast, but I am happy to say that I found a great partner to share getting old with.

For Andrew's 30th I decided to throw a surprise party. If any of you know me, know that I am no good at keep secrets. I am always way to excited to give gifts, and usually have Andrew open his gifts early since I am too excited to give it and need him to open it as soon as possible, because I cannot stand waiting. So this year was an exception. With that in mind, Andrew had no idea that I was planning this. We had planned on spending a week up at a cabin in Lakewood, WI with Andrew's family for the week that his birthday happened to land on. I planned that the Saturday we arrived people would already be at the cabin ready to celebrate. As we drove to the cabin Saturday morning, my excitement was building, but I was able to keep my cool. I dropped a couple hints that something was happening, but he ignored me and kept driving. As we pulled into the driveway, he noticed Drew's car, and suddenly got really excited, jumped out of the car, excited that "Drew" was his present and was excited to hang out for the weekend with him. As he ran into the driveway, he paused, looked around and noticed that there may be one too many cars in the driveway. He turned and looked at me and said, "This is a surprise party, isn't it?!" So needless to say, I did good and surprised him, and we walked into the cabin to find more friends and family, and Drew.  We had a great time that night with family and friends.

My present to Andrew. Something to keep you young, Because your 30...you have to drink in style, And finally because your getting old, you need something to "trim"the grey away

Nothing like drinking Gentleman's Jack in a whiskey snifter.

Every old man needs a nose hair trimmer.

And every tailgater needs a fold up port-a-potty.

All three Jacks, Jack Daniels, Gentleman Jack, and Single Barrel. And check out that sweet lime green tuxedo t-shirt.

Just a couple picture from the night, where just a little whiskey was consumed.

We had a great time up north! And the kids loved playing in the water and taking boat trips around the lake. Gavin was especially great at driving the boat in a circle, just a circle :)

We decided to try all the fancy whiskey. Consensus was that Single Barrel was the most harsh and Kessler whiskey was the smoothest, but we all liked the Gentleman Jack the most.

We took the kids to the candy shop in town, which they loved!!! Someone was so excited to show me her candy that she kept putting it in front of her face to show me.

We took Abby to the Northern D'lites to get some ice cream, an annual tradition in Lakewood.

And finally a couple summer pictures. Abby pushing Andrew on her trike (that is how we push her on it) and splish spashing in the mini pool.

Well that about sums up most of June. July was spent being just as busy, but I'll save that for another day.
